About Duke Energy's SALOR Tool

Duke Energy provides a free online tool called SALOR โ€” the Street and Area Light Outage Repair map. It's the fastest and most direct way to report a street light that is out, flickering, or stuck on during daylight hours. No Duke Energy account is required to submit a report.

Who owns the street lights? Per Section 6.3(m) of the Pebble Creek Restrictions, street light poles are the property of the City of Shelby and maintained by the City in coordination with Duke Energy. Reporting through Duke Energy's SALOR tool is the most direct path to a repair.

How to Report a Street Light Outage

  1. Open the SALOR map Go to salor-web.duke-energy.app on your phone or computer. The tool opens as an interactive map โ€” no login required.
  2. Find the light on the map The map displays street lights as icons. Navigate to your street in Pebble Creek and locate the specific light pole that is out. You can zoom in and pan the map to find the right one.
  3. Click or tap the light icon Select the affected light on the map. A panel will appear showing details about that light pole, including its pole ID number.
  4. Select the problem type Choose the issue that best describes the problem:
    • Light is out โ€” not illuminating at night
    • Light is flickering โ€” cycling on and off
    • Light is on during the day โ€” stuck on in daylight hours
    • Light is dim โ€” noticeably less bright than normal
  5. Submit your report Confirm the submission. Duke Energy will receive the report and dispatch a crew to inspect and repair the light. Repairs typically take a few days to a couple of weeks depending on parts and workload.

๐Ÿ’ก Tip โ€” note the pole ID: When you find the light on the map, write down the pole ID number shown. If you want to follow up with Duke Energy by phone, the pole ID makes it easy for a representative to locate your specific report.

What to Expect After Reporting

  • Duke Energy logs the outage and schedules an inspection
  • A technician will assess whether it needs a bulb, ballast, photocell, or other repair
  • Most repairs are completed within 3โ€“10 business days, though complex repairs may take longer
  • You do not need to be home or present for the repair
